Can 11B detailed recruiters walk on to Ranger School after completing ALC?

I'm scheduled to go to ALC next month and I really want to take the opportunity to walk on to Ranger school afterwards. I've heard that recruiters are denied that opportunity which wouldn't suprise me because I was slotted to go to Ranger school and RSLC before I came down on orders for Recruiting, and they canceled both of those courses for me to go to the ARC. I understand that commanders worry about the mission because they think one person wil affect the recruiting mission within a center however that's just not the case with our center, we're the top recruiting center in all of 6th brigade at the moment and I know for a fact our center would be good to go while I'm gone for a few months. A friend of mine recently went and tried to walk on to Ranger school but was pulled aside and told he was not going to be able to do that. If this is true I don't think it's right to mess with a Soldiers opportunity to do something to advance in their career, especially not a detailed recruiter who's recruiting time is short lived and will be returning to the line eventually.

If you were a female, you would have a better opportunity to have preferential treatment to attend the Ranger Course... Just Saying... Sad but true....
BC said he would review that on a case by case basis. Dude out of Long Beach pretty much screwed that opportunity for everyone else though. He went after ALC then came back n said he was going to ETS. Add on the fact that CSM does not favor schools that are not related to recruiting. Ask Burbank the trouble a couple have had just getting Airborne n Air Assault (relatively short schools) n the reason they are being denied. Good riddens to recruiting duty.

It's good to hear from you brother. I had heard that the BC would review that on a case by case basis, however he's leaving this month and there will be a new BC soon. I was thinking of just giving it a shot and to see what happens. I do plan on re enlisting but my window isn't open until October otherwise I'd do it now. How did Ranger school go for you?

Try it n see. Worst case scenario is they say no abd you do it enroute on your next PCS... Long story short, my stay at Ranger School did not last long and I plan on going back soon after my baby is born. Goin from recruiting to RS was perhaps too big of a step
