I’m here at AIT and I have this drill sergeant that absolutely hates everything me and another person in our platoon does the first 2 weeks we did get off on the wrong hand but I just wasn’t use to the freedom coming fresh out of basic I told her that and I’ve been staying under the radar for a while but she just looks for any and everything to chow us out about or give us a counseling so today we had a random room expectation and our rooms got trashed me and the guy she hates also so what she did was thrower everything out our drawers and brought the females to our room and told them that this is how we live and we’re dirty so she took our phones and a couple more guys I gave her a phone but she said I had more than one phone so she made me open my locker and searched through my bags in my locked locker with no permission and found a old phone I was wrong for not turning it in but everyone is telling me to go talk to my 1Sgt because it wasn’t right how I was the only one that got searched and she was never given permission to search any of my personal belongings she just decided to and made me open my locker should I talk to my first sergeant about this? Or is this just something I should just deal with 8 more weeks because I think she is trying to get me put out and I can’t take it

Will it much be really nice in the Army! I went to MCRD PI in 1967 and we had about 80 living in one room. We got our foot locker turned over and put allove the place and our racks turn over and trash cans dumped all over and had to clean it all up and scrubbed the deck with a toothbrush. We never got to call home. put was made to wright letter home in our 1 hour free time at night where we had to do the 3 shit, shower and shave and study. You didn't have time to think about that stuff.

Yes they can if they are doing an inspection. Go ahead and listen to the shit house lawyers that are telling you to run to the 1sg because when you tell him you had more then one phone guess what he is going to do to you.

Please go tell the 1SG and CDR that you decided to keep a second phone. I'm about 99% certain there's a policy letter that pertains to phones, both possession and usage. I'm also pretty sure you signed a counseling saying that you read and understand all policy letters. This is a easy way to resolve your issues.

Jason,

Although I do want to give you good advice my brain truly hurts over what has happened to the Army I love due to recruits such as yourself. In case no one told you yet Jason, you're in the Army private. There are three simple rules for you to follow to make your life so much easier.

DO WHAT YOU'RE TOLD, DO WHAT YOU'RE TOLD, AND OH YEAH DO WHAT YOU'RE TOLD....

Do you remember the day you raised your hand and swore your oath to support and defend the constitution? Well what they also should have told you that day is that you also gave up all of your constitutional rights. You belong to the Army now young man. Please get used to it.

You weren't drafted, you didn't go before a judge who said jail or military, you chose to join the US Army. You raised your right hand and swore (or affirmed) ...... "and to obey the orders of the officers appointed over me".

You've already put yourself on the Drill Sergent's radar for other offenses because you weren't used to the freedom after boot camp (your line).

Now, you are feeling "picked on" because your Drill Sergent tossed your room and the room of one other member of the platoon. Then brought other members of your platoon and showed them your room. Used you as a lesson for other members of your platoon.

She took the phones of some of the members of your platoon, then she made you open your locker and found another phone that you had not turned in. The fact that it was old is irrelevant, it was a phone that you were supposed to turn in and you didn't. I suspect she knew that you had another phone and you were given the opportunity to turn it in and you didn't. Phones are a privilege, not a right and you have to earn privileges. I could use the old adage that if it wasn't issued to you, the military feels that you don't need it.

I suppose you could up your Chain of Command to say that your Drill Sergent is biased against you. You would have to prove without a doubt and provide documented incidents (including witnesses) where you were singled out and no one else.

As a retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer (the same as a US Army SFC) I think you might want to examine your actions and behaviors and make a decision. Do you want to stay in the US Army or not?

The ball is now in your court, PVT. What are you going to do with it?

Your a dumbass is all I can say.. your ass belongs to the Military. You break the rules, they will make an example of you. Your D.I. is trying to embarrass you in Hope's to get you to straighten your ass up. D.I.'s are not there to get you thrown out. They are there to get you to straighten up, act like a soldier, keep your dumbass safe from yourself. If you cant hack A.I.T. than go see your 1st Sgt and opt out of the Military. It would most likely save someone's life down the road.

Like so many have said in the comments; embrace the suck, learn from it and go forward.
There's also something else you didn't seem to understand: You signed a CONTRACT and are considered a government asset. You WILL do as you're told and act as expected or the Army will termintate your contract, quite probably under less than honorable conditions. You contract included everything from standing tall and receiving honors to free housing and food to gross public humiliation to death on the battlefield. If you failed to read your contract, you had better go back and read it again.

Since it been four months now, he is either a Soldier at his first duty station, or was kick out and a civilian again. If I saw this post earlier, my advice (which I read some great advice and hope he took it to heart) is this (Might sound corny here) " suck it up buttercup"

Holy sh#t private. You are in initial training, and in the Army. This is not civilian life. They don't need a search warrant, they don't need a lot of things because they only need the approval from the authority of their base commander to do such things. Next, it's only for a few weeks so sick it up and just follow the rules.

Remember, you voluntarily signed up. I fully back soldiers who are truly being mistreated, but when they cause the trouble I got nothing. Maybe I'm just a little hard hearted after years of watching Joes go against the rules then want to blame the leadership when they get corrected. Maybe it's because I'm a cop now and I just don't care about people who break laws and want to find a way to get out of trouble. I didn't know what the hell a cell phone was until I was done with Basic and AIT. I had pen and a note pad so you'll have to excuse me if I don't empathise with you on that particular situation. We didn't have separate rooms, I lived in a bay with 60 other men. If one screwed up, we ALL got our lockers and beds tossed. It's not about picking on you, it's about teaching lessons that will keep you and your fellow soldiers alive when you have to go down range. Plus some life lessons.
