I’m here at AIT and I have this drill sergeant that absolutely hates everything me and another person in our platoon does the first 2 weeks we did get off on the wrong hand but I just wasn’t use to the freedom coming fresh out of basic I told her that and I’ve been staying under the radar for a while but she just looks for any and everything to chow us out about or give us a counseling so today we had a random room expectation and our rooms got trashed me and the guy she hates also so what she did was thrower everything out our drawers and brought the females to our room and told them that this is how we live and we’re dirty so she took our phones and a couple more guys I gave her a phone but she said I had more than one phone so she made me open my locker and searched through my bags in my locked locker with no permission and found a old phone I was wrong for not turning it in but everyone is telling me to go talk to my 1Sgt because it wasn’t right how I was the only one that got searched and she was never given permission to search any of my personal belongings she just decided to and made me open my locker should I talk to my first sergeant about this? Or is this just something I should just deal with 8 more weeks because I think she is trying to get me put out and I can’t take it

Lol. You belong to Uncle Sam! You are a trainee! You marked yourself when you screwed up from the get go. Now you must prove for the rest of the time that you have matured! Stay under the radar and quit bringing undo attention to yourself. Drill Sergeants are there to mold you into a soldier not coddle you. Yes, I’m old school Army so I can’t even comprehend why you even have a cell. I would remove this post before they find out about it and really get on to you. Good luck!

First of all, you were or still is a trainee until you graduate from AIT. You've been in trouble at previews times that's two marks against you. Now, you want to jump the chain of command and go straight to the First Sargeant?
You must be as dumb as a rock in a pool of irk you nimrod. What I suggest to you is to stay away from your self-proclaimed barracks lawyers, which I'm very confident their lack of knowledge on AR-38-6 better known as the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
If you decide to go on that route, you'll be digging your own military grave since that Drill Sergeant is doing what is within her parameters including ALL cellphone. Shoot, if you were one of my troopers not only will I take your cellphone from you but smoke your *ss until if get tired looking at you. So, grow up buttercup you're in the U.S. Army.

You are now government property and yes your DI has a duty to keep you straight and convert you to a responsible person. Boot camp is tough, as it always has been, but for a good reason. Grow up, deal with it, and you will be a better person when you finish it and be proud of it.

Set to Music…”You’re in the Army now, you’re not behind a plow, dah, dah, dah, etc.” you can really be part of a great team, learn a lot of ‘stuff’, create new friends, and be a real asset to yourself and your Company, but to do that you must learn the Military Way of Life with all its rules and regulations like you did or would be doing on the outside as a civilian.
Do you really think that the Drill Sgt. really wants to waste their time being a hard case only to you?
Drill Sgt’s have a planned schedule (Time Management) to apply training to make you into something you never thought you’d be and they have little time or even want to take the time correcting folks who don’t follow simple, common sense rules and commands because, obviously, you’re cutting into other personnel training times.
What you need to do is STOP, TAKE A DEEP BREADTH AND SAY, I JOINED FOR MY OWN REASON/S AND NOW IT’S TIME FOR ME TO STAND UP AND LEARN TO BE AN ASSET INSTEAD OF A LIABILITY! It will be a lot easier if you go with the flow and It will pay off, but right now you can’t see it.
You’re in now so, when you learn, LEARN IT WELL, and then you will start taking a leadership role and sharing with your team mates, the time goes by and you’ll learn to love it, otherwise, shut up, sit down and watch life turn into a pile of, well, you know.

The laws on base vs the laws in the civil sector are two different things.
Before you enter a base there is a sign that says, “Subject to search without notice.”
Basic Training/Boot Camp environment, plus follow on training, the stakes are higher for that.
Unless she’s harassing you for no particular reason but got kicks (and you can prove it without shadow of a doubt) you have no case.

SFC Burns, my drill sergeant God bless his soul, had a phrase for this.
FUCKING MOUSE TURD, YOU'RE A FUCKING MOUSE TURD FUCKING UP MY ARMY!
Seriously, get your shit together or get out.
But what can you expect from supply.

What a new army we have here. We never have phones in BASIC or AIT. There are a distraction and your there to learn. If you cant deal with people of authority going through your stuff you chose the wrong profession.

I'm sorry, did you not realize you joined the Military? The Army OWNS you now. You and your personal stuff (including lockers) can be searched at any time. They will tell you what to wear, when to eat, and when to sleep for the length of your enlistment. There is a chain of command you can take if you feel you have been wronged, but you will be laughed out of the room. Trust me, this is NOT the hill you want to die on. Suck it up. You broke the rules and got caught, more than once. You need to realize that you are a small cog in the Army machine and every one has to live by the same rules. You are not exceptional. Stand up, admit you were wrong, apologize to your DS and get on with life. Advice from the Mother of a Marine..

Rights everyone has one. However, in basic the only right you have is the right to shut up and do as you say. The civilian mentality goes out. One Fight one army.
