I am a female in the army current on rotation over seas. I was just told by my team leader that my platoon Sgt (female) told him that I need to start wearing a bra while off duty. in the clothes that I wear, you can't see my nipple or even the color of my nipple nor do I wear revealing or low cut shirts. At the most, you can just see that I am simply not wearing one. Nowhere in any reg does it say it’s required not even in uniform. Can she tell me to do so?

If the Regulation don't say you have to wear one. Then you don't have to.

Gonna play devil's advocate here. S/He's concerned about your safety for SHARP incidents. Sure, you can take care of yourself and you have battle buddies, etc. But, being deployed, you will be more susceptible to those actions. Protect yourself at all times. People know and see, they will talk. That is how I see why, my way. Your PSG should also tell you on a one on one basis as to why you should wear one.

All that AR 670-1 dated 25 June 2017 says is that females are authorized to wear undergarments in civilian clothes. No where does it say they must. Additionally it says that undergarments are part of the combat uniform. Having said that how many male soldiers do you know that don't wear underwear especially in a field environment. Has any PSG male or female said anything about that? Because this post is the first I have ever heard of it being an issue in or out of duty uniform.

I don't think the absence of a prohibition necessarily means a certain behavior or lack of attire is acceptable in certain environments like the military. I think this holds true even in the civilian world. For instance, some stores have signs that say something like "no shirt, no shoes, no service." Does that sign mean you won't get kicked out for indecency if you walk in to the store without wearing pants or something compatible?

SGT (Join to see) I can understand and appreciate your argument but a lack of undergarments in civilian attire, if that attire is in all others ways appropriate why is it the PSGs business. Based on the information we have been given, SPC (Join to see) has every right to wear appropriate civilian clothing on her off time. Nothing states that a senior persons personal opinion or pet peeves should ever be used to give orders. In my opinion the order that was given was unlawful. Just like a CDR or 1SG ordering someone to shave a mustache that is within regulations. Your argument is invalid based on the information that was provided.

SGT (Join to see) - i think there is a differnce between not wearing pants out to the gricery store and not wearing undies if you have clothes on over them. If you want to forgo the undies and risk chaffing your bits you may do so without repercussions. If you have a huge chest and the world can tell you might develope the reputation for being a ho but the cops aren’t going to show up and take you to jail or give you a ticket. Want to see the wardrobe rules of society pushed to their absolute breaking point? Try just about any Walmart at about 2am.

AIC FOX: Young man, the U.S. Military, in all of its various branches, is NOT a "Democracy," a concept you obviously have failed to comprehend. The only military office permitted to "...go to all the news medias" is the Public Information Office (PIO) or its equivalent with messages approved for release by its Commander (including Social Media). UCMJ offers strict guidance and you would do well to visit UCMJ Articles 88, 89, 91, 133 and 134 to educate yourself before you're taken to task by your local Commander.

Well COL John it proves that the Military are afraid of "TRUTH", just like the commander in chief, "HE DON'T KNOW WHAT TRUTH IS"
