I am a SSG in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. For the last 8 years I lived in Miami, FL and commuted to do my drills but I recently move to Henrico, Virginia, very close to Fort Lee. I hold two MOS' 11B and 92A... I'm interested in the AIT PSG Program, how does it work, and if I as a "weekend warrior" with two deployments can apply for it. Any advise will be helpful.

This is the link you need to go to for information: http://jackson.armylive.dodlive.mil/about/armyschools/aitpsg/

At the bottom of the page there is a link to contact Branch to ask questions. Most likely though, they are going to say no. AIT PSG is a full time position and you need to be available at all times. Most assignments will require to work 6-7day weeks for at least part of the cycle. Unlike normal platoons, the AIT PSG is the sole point of contact for the Soldiers outside of the daily instruction period. Also, 92As have AIT PSGs, 11Bs do not since they are OSUT.

Does anyone in the service read regulations? The admin officer can show you the library of regulation manuals for the direct answer to any of these type of questions so no one can BS you. A lesson I had to learn and suited well for any arguments you run into for your future plans. Every branch is different regulations so start there and you will be glad you did. Make it a point to read all of them ,even speed read them to start then you will know where to find a direct answer in your future.

SSG (Join to see) Boricua, I did AIT PSG and is a good assignment, you will enjoy it. As far as being part time and being able to do it, where I was I don't remember seeing any AGR positions, but it might me different in your MOS; I would suggest contacting Ft Benning or Ft Lee for more information.
