I emailed Army HRC about a TIS waiver to apply for Federal OCS however, I received an email back from HRC stating that I would have to go enlisted Army and then apply for OCS if accepted under an enlisted contract. I just want to clarify that I cannot apply to Army OCS as active duty Navy. I haven't personally seen this anywhere but I may have just missed this information somewhere in the instructions I have seen.

Think about it for a second- You are in the Navy, yet want to attend the Amy Officer Candidate School- the USN HAS NO SLOTS for that in the school nor in their branch! Want to be an Army officer, you 1st have to BE IN THE ARMY. Would you expect for a Ranger to be assigned to a USN gunnery slot, just because it shoots something?

You must be in the same service to apply for OCS. That being said there is no guarantee. I would look into the Warrant Officer program if you had an MOS that is applicable... Let me know how that works please.

Sir, Thank you for the input. The goal was shoot for Army OCS but after hearing I would have to get out and try for OCS either as a civilian or enlisted Soldier, I didn't really want to take the gamble. I went to one of the Warrant Officer briefs here in Hawaii and found out some really good info. I'm currently waiting to hear back from Navy Personnel Command on whether the Navy will approve my conditional release to apply for Warrant Officer MOS 153A.

You need to go to an Army Recruiter office and they will explain how to switch over. It will require a condition release (DD FM 368). Make sure your all green on medpros. When you go bring your SSC, BC, DLs, Diplomas, etc. you will need everything as if you were enlisting for the first time.

Can active duty Navy enlisted apply to active duty Army OCS?

I commissioned through Federal OCS in 2017. During my OCS Stent, I met a female that was prior service navy. She told me that she essentially transferred over to the army from the navy with a packet for OCS. She still had to go army basic training though but at least she went in as a E5 and was left alone while at basic. But she still had to pass and graduate OCS and if you somehow got removed whether through peer-eval, NO-GOS, Cheating etc... you would finish whatever what's left on your contract from the navy as an enlisted but HRC would pick your MOS and you would not have any say on what you want.

No. You would have to get out of the Navy, join the Army and then apply to go to OCS. Good luck.

If you can become a WO in the Navy - that's probably the best deal you are going to get.
