Can AD females wear a dress to their military ball in lieu of their dress uniform?

There is usually a LOI/MOI given prior to the Ball dictating what the dress code is. If a female SM has been directed by the LOI/MOI to wear dress uniform, then that is what you wear. If the LOI/MOI states either or...then you can wear a dress. But, that dress better be in good taste. I can't begin to tell you the dresses I've seen at Balls that were should have stayed in the closet at the adult movie set

My experience was that it was pretty standard that all members of the unit in question wear the service or dress uniform. Military spouses of OTHER units had the option of uniform or appropriate civilian attire.

If you and your spouse are both in the unit in question, then you should both be in uniform.

Why would you think wearing anything other than your uniform is acceptable?
