I am an Army National Guard soldier married to an Army Active duty soldier. Is there anyway to move to Korea with my husband with me being National Guard? He will be leaving in 2 months to be stationed there. A few of the SFC that are over him and some that work in OPs have said, to both of us, they could possibly have a reserves unit over there or maybe one in Japan. Or I might be able to fly to Hawaii every month via a C130 for like 10 dollars, or something like that, and do my weekend drills there. ?? Any thoughts?

Your thoughts are my thoughts - you should find out for sure asap! ;-) First find out if your husbands assignment is accompanied or not. If unaccompanied, then it won't matter - you cant go. If accompanied, when you have a plan (how/where you are going to drill, etc), present it to your command and ask to be transferred, they should be accommodating if you have everything worked out.

They definitely do have slots available, as a reservest though. Plus they want to keep you for 12 months
send me a message and I'll get you a point of contact. I was in Afghanistan with an NCO who is AGR in Korea.

There are Army Reserve units stationed in Korea that you may be able to switch to....A friend of mine in MI did it. Depends on MOS and rank.

Before you go through all the leg work for National Guard make sure you’re able to accompany your spouse. His assignment must be a Command Sponsor tour in order for you to accompany him (most Korea tours are unaccompanied tours unless the Soldier apply for Command Sponsorship.

Yes she can go but she won’t be in the Guard over there....see if her unit can release her and she then go to the reserves!

Also why wouldn’t she be able to go???? You are marred

SPC (Join to see) they might have postings for you there but they are in the reserves and you might need to switch over otherwise another bet would be AGR but it would still need to be the reserve side of AGR otherwise overseas posting won't be possible.

Ask for TDY to a unit that solves problem by its locationan and don't delay paperwork initiation once contacts provide methodology.

Its possible, however, its best to get these matters taken care of prior to coming down on orders. Its much easier that way. Working in S1, you can work a lot of magoc pretty easily for soldiers, UNTIL, they come down on orders. Then theres just more hoops to leap through.
