Can an Army Reserve soldier attend the National Guard OCS held over an 18-month duration? If so, how?

Yes, however I’ve heard that state OCS is a beast. Were you opposed to traditional OCS? I can’t speak to either as I direct commissioned but at 18 months you should already be looked at for 1LT so definitely look into options for both routes

Well I have two issues. First I am over 30, 32 precisely. With been old, getting age waiver is a big thing. Secondly, I work as a manager at civilian job. With so much under me, I am unwilling to go for traditional ocs at Benning. Taking break for 2 weeks is a hustle. Forget userra, in most cases employers find ways , and it's a path I don't wanna take. If the answer is yes, how can I do that and whom to contact?

I hear ya there. It's a delicate challenge being a reservist and a dedicated professional in your civilian field. You should be able to talk to any career counselor about the details of it. Also, I do believe that your years of service should deduct from your age for the age waiver requirement. Best of luck to ya!

Yes, I have also seen it done. Your best option is to directly contact the state OCS staff and ask what procedure works for them. Make sure your unit Commander is willing to approve your enrollment in OCS as well. Its been a few years since I served in the Guard but here in Oklahoma they would accept candidates almost up to the last minute of the class start date. Best of luck!

I talked with army reserve retention and guard ocs . Both said that I have to get a dd368 signed . something that I don't wanna do.
