Can anyone describe the plus and minus system used by the DA SFC Board to make selections? Does it change each year?

CSM Stafford laid it out. There are checks ad balances to ensure that the panel is effectively and efficiently dolling out points. These panels have an audit process as well.

As much as I would love to agree with you on the checks and balances statement, I will have to call BS on that. I have spoken with several CSM who have sit on the promotion boards and even they state is has a few guidelines but the rest is left up to interpretations and personal preference. My current supervisor just pinned SFC not long ago. He made SSG 3 different times. (lost once for sleeping with married spouse and another for drinking and driving). To this day, he still has not changed. According to checks and balances, he should have been put through the QMP board; instead he was promoted. How are we supposed to follow leaders like that.

One anonymous is hard to speak to! I will respond non-the-less. I am not sure what CSM's you are speaking to and I cannot challenge the knowledge of those I do not know, I can only speak to facts as I know them. There are strict rules applying to senior promotions and that does not mean that mistakes are not made. There is also a process for those who are likely erroneously selected as well as overlooked.
As for following what you determine to be poor leadership, you truly have no choice if they are appointed over you. We have all served under those we thought to be unworthy, as the cream rises to the top, suds will fade. Hang in there and get rid of the anonymous tag. Also please refrain from unprofessional language. Thank you!
