Can anyone explain if this guy I know is pretending to be a LTC?

An old friend of mine randomly posted a photo of himself in OCP’s with LTC rank. He told everyone that he just joined the Army Rerserves. I asked him what unit, and he told me it’s the 101st Airborne. He has a BS in nursing. He’s 45 years old. He’s not on ako or on enterprise. My question is, does this story smell fishy?

I've seen some MD's and specialist nurses enter service at O-4, but those nurses were usually CRNAs, not BSNs. Not unprecedented, but highly unusual and usually with a lot of previous experience behind them to justify the senior grade. The absence from global and unit mixup is a huge red flag, though. Unless 101st has a reserve element?

As a really old chaplain, with the right degrees and experience we can skip O 1/2, and come in as a 3. But being over 40 doesn't fly except for a RC priest! Still no LTC.

*Chuckle* Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck... it's usually a duck. However, for due diligence.
While no one 'just' joins and is a LTC. Now, what he ~could~ have meant and expressed poorly is that he just went over or to the reserves from being regular active for many years.
Certain Reserve and National guard units are 'affiliated' with the 101st Airborne and wear their patch. So the unit bit is marginally passable.
Ask this old friend where and when he attended basic and officers school and what his MOS is. Most poseurs screw themselves up with not being able to answer the simple questions and no understanding the process for promotions.

Let him know that impersonating a commissioned offficer is a felony under USC Title 10. No, the Second Amendment dosn’t Allow you to skate on that one.....

Even with significant years of experience, a nurse will not enter the military as a LTC. Furthermore, the 101st Airborne is an active duty unit (Screaming Eagles). Hmmmm. More like a skunk smell.

Fishy? No...… More like a Shark! Remember, if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, its most likely a duck.

101st Airborne is an active unit base outta Ft Campbell KY. He just joined as an O5? Bullshit. My son just got his Doctor degree. He enlisted as an 03 captain! 9 years of school! Psychologist!

He would only be allowed to come in as Active Duty, big Army will take advantage of those situations to take full advantage of those specialty skills, not as a Reserves. So i call BullShit !
