Can anyone explain WHY APA-C and ANP get paid less that MD/DO when working in an aviation unit on flight status? Same job right?

We all go to the same course. We do essentially the same job. Why does an MD/DO get rated crew pay (ACIP) and a PA only gets a flat rate for non-rated, non-crew member of $150 no matter how many years one serves. Even medical students get paid as crew member. See the slides below, directly from the FS course. Thoughts?

It's because they are considered a rated crew member while we are not. Goes back to the days when the docs were actually capable of piloting the bird if necessary. I think they are looking at updating it, but as of now its due to the classification.

That is how I understand it as well. I'm not saying that I, as a PA, deserve flight pay (ACIP) but I don't think physicians deserve the same pay as pilots.

Wonder when that was?
Of those Flt Surgeons that were capable of directing the bird, their experience came from the civilian side of the fence, not UPT.
Matter of fact, NONE of the Flight Surgeons that I dealt with during my 11,000 crew hours were cockpit qualified -- and that goes back to the 60's

TSgt Gwen Walcott - I believe it went back to the Vietnam war... before PAs even existed. Unsure though.

TSgt Gwen Walcott - FS was CW3 before going to medical school. Qualified in OH-58, UH-1, CH-47. Not many of us out there, I have met a few others Most of us wore our pilots wings rather then the FS wings. . For a long time FS went thru the basic flight course to the point they Soloed. It was felt they needed the experience to understand what it take to pilot the Aircraft.

That has been argued for years.
Many APA's have been recognized for their hard workin their units; would recommend working with your BDE FS and mother Rucker for changes
