Can anyone help me with details on the 3D Infantry Regiment for my upcoming PCS move?

I am leaving the trail in May. Branch says I will probably be there in July. I need info on the unit. Where should I try to go? Where should I live. I want to separate myself from my peers. I know the Time is a distinguished position. I am a blank page that needs knowledge!

The best way to start is to go online and google the Washington, D.C. area in general, and 3dInf.Reg. specifically because there will be an address like 3DInfReg.com or something like that. Branch should have an updated web address for your gaining unit, and it would be a good idea to take a few days leave to check out the area, and go onpost to check out your new unit. Best of luck!

I can't help you with the assignment-specific stuff, but since I do live in the area, I can help you with off-post knowledge. You'll be assigned to Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington VA.

Depends on what you want, and what you need? Are you coming here with family or without? Kids or no? How many?
For locations in and around Arlington, PV2 (Join to see) would be able to give you fine details. I don't have kids, so I can't speak to the school system. I do like the area around Columbia Heights West (Columbia Pike from around Walter Reed Drive to where it intersects Rt. 7) for the restaurants and other amenities.
I live near Kingstowne, so you could take the Metro to duty if you lived in my area near Fort Belvoir, which is also nice.
