I reenlisted for Airborne School. My school date is January 2016. When will I receive a follow on assignment? Also, I read that I can get with my career counselor to have them send up a request however, my unit disbanded. Can I just go to my new unit's (its an IPT) Career Counselor? If I get orders will I PCS right after Airborne School? As in I just come back to my home station to clear and then PCS? Thanks in advance for all your feedback.

Didn't you ask these questions to your Career Counselor prior to your reenlistment?

SGM, I did ask these questions. My Career Counselor told me that I would be needs of the Army after I graduate Airborne School. I'm just getting conflicting information and I want to know what to expect.

Yes, your current unit's Career Counselor can easily assist you.
You'll likely come down on assignment instructions to an airborne assignment 90-days prior to training. If not, your Career Counselor can request an assignment through HRC's Retention and Reclassification Branch after that time.
You'll go to school in a TDY & en route status (you'll return to your current station after training to clear and PCS)
See your servicing Career Counselor for detailed, individual information.

Generally if you recieve orders prior to jump school you will go in-route pending your graduation of airborne school. Get with branch or your career counselor to find out more about assignment opportunities

Expect Bragg, Italy, or Alaska in that order. Put your preferences in ASK. Your orders and Chain of Command will assist you with the rest.

You shouldn't have to reenlist for jump school. That's just a TDY thing unless you were in a non airborne unit and possibly going to an airborne unit as a next assignment. Your retention guy should have explained the details of your contract to you thoroughly

I was in a non-airborne unit and thats why I reenlisted for Airborne school. My Career Counselor discussed my contract with me the only thing he told me differently was my follow on assignment.

You go to jump school and if you pass you will get orders. Or you will get orders to an airborne unit and go tdy entroute or tdy and return. If you fail you can still go to that unit and well you will be a leg and will be forced to go back. Or you get new orders at airborne school if you still which will be needs of the army.

i volunteered for airborne duty while in ait and had a projection before i left so i was a mosq tdy en route i graduated went to the travel office went to my unit i remember everyone who didn't who i came on the bus from ft.gordon with went what was called "global" and the cadre there in 1-507 up at battalion cut them orders while they did details to help run the school in the holdover bays... so my best geuss for your probabilities are A) you are going tdy and return B)if you have orders for a new unit your gonna go by that report date C)you'll get cut orders there which can provide you with the opportunity to go to rasp or just hop on the bus to the 82nd and be a real boy

It will be 82nd. Almost no one gets Italy right out of school and you have to beg to go to Anchorage. I loved Ft Rich but there isnt much there for airborne anymore.
SGM Quick is right, you should have asked these questions before signing.
Lastly, do not go out and act like a fool. They will kick you out and that will end your time in the Army. Go out friday night and maybe Saturday but thats it. PT test monday sucks if you went out first weekend. You get up too early during the week to stay up late. Just do the right thing and school will be quick and fun.
Talking about fun, the first part of week 2 is the dang SLT. That thing will beat you up. It is the worst part of the school. Enjoy the 34 ft towers. Lastly, on green light....go. dont think of anything except eye contact, hand off the static line and turn to the door. Its the best thing ever.... and... the C17's are the caddillac of the sky. So smoooth and soft openings.
Remember.. green light GO

You should get Airborne TDY-enroute to your new assignment. That is what happened to me. My orders said leaving from Fort A on date, arriving at Fort B on date, proceed on assignment to Fort Benning for class 123 on date.
