Just got word from my smoke that my BN CDR and CSM are pushing to remove my airborne status and send me to a non Airborne unit. This is because I’ve been on profile for my knee for the past 10 months, yet I have been still jumping and taking PT tests, etc. Do they have the authority to take it away even if I’m unwilling and technically not medically terminated?

They can not take the identifier, but they can remove you from jump status. Guess who signs the 4187.

If you can still jump and take PT tests under the conditions of your profile, then what limitations on duty does your profile actually describe? Seems like if you are cleared to do those two things, you should be cleared for about anything.

It’s just for own pace/distance while running because that’s what causes the most pain in my knee.

CPL (Join to see) - "It’s just for own pace/distance while running because that’s what causes the most pain in my knee."
Which means currently you are not an full asset to the unit. After you hit the LZ, there is no place for a SM who can only move at "own pace/distance"
After getting out of the back of an MRAP, there is no place for an SM who can only move at "own pace/distance"
If its a Temp limitation only, stay engaged with your leadership, make sure they know your working to recover and WANT IT. No CDR/1SG is looking to get rid of a good trooper because he is sidelined temporally..just aint happening.. They already have too many duds and not enough studs

I see your profile. 1-319. I did almost a decade in 3-319. I’ve never seen anyone have their status taken away. Even people who should have had it taken. Like SFC (Join to see) said. You have to voluntarily drop it.

CW3 (Join to see) they dismantled 321 while I was 3-319 in 2014. Broke the BN into three 155 batteries and integrated them into the three 319 battalions as C batteries.

SFC (Join to see) Ok. Makes sense. I haven’t had much to do with DIVARTY since I left in 2011. Most people I knew are somewhere else now. Corps Artillery, even before they wore the “Double A” didn’t really serve a purpose anyways other than the MLRS asset.
