Can I be a police officer and be in the national guard as well? I'm still active ready to start transitioning out but I don't want to stop using the TSP since it's given me great return on the C,S and I funds... would the jobs interfere with each other?

I am Army Reserve and almost all of the drilling units that I served in had one or two police officers among the ranks. The work balance between the positions depends on the OPTEMPO of the specific police department and specific military unit.

I suggest you ask your future ARNG unit if any of their personnel work as law enforcement along with asking police recruiter about any military units that their officers drill in

I’m sure you won’t be the first NG Soldier, and most likely won’t be the only one in that department. Just talk to them about it, they have to allow you to go to Drill and stuff like that I’m pretty sure.

SPC Ben Alex - The same way it does for people that work Retail. The Dept. will schedule your weekly time off during your drill weekends and you will have a non vacation time excused absence for AT. Some municipalities even pay you while you are on AT.
SFC Retention Operations Nco
When I was in the NG almost all of the 11B NCOs were LEOs.
