Can I be denied receiving a 'Go' for a promotion board if I accidentally use gender pronouns? Should I get the IG involved?

I recently just attended the E-5 promotion board and absolutely nailed it. Uniform, confidence, presence was on point. Answered questions correctly and to the best of my ability. Walked out of the board feeling like a million bucks. I am waiting for my sponsor to come out, and he says I received a 'No-Go' because on the first question I was asked I referred to a soldier as "he should" instead of "the soldier should." This apparently was the decision that prevented me from being promotable according to my sponsor, despite answering the other 9 questions I was asked to a T.
Is there anything on Army regulation about this? Should I get the IG involved? What if this belief is against my religion and I don't agree with it? I know the SGM has a transgender kid. I do not want to cave to using these terms if it does not align with my beliefs. I know the worlds' headed in this direction but this seems absolutely insane to me that despite acing a board, I can be prevented from promoting due to using gender pronouns. What

I am so glad to be out of service. When the military started turning boys into girls under Obama made me sick to my stomach. I am sure hate speech with surely come. Pretty soon there will be "No Country for Straight Men" a new movie of the old days where men were men, and women were women.

In my opinion, what could be a Mental issues, should not enter into the discussion on any level.

Nonsense from my perspective... while I respect the idea that we should respect people's personal decisions and not ostracize them for their sexual orientations... provided they leave them out of the workplace.... they have no business in the office or the foxhole... we should not penalize people for dumb shit like this. Now... the flip side... "attention to detail"... if you are asked a question that involves a "soldier" (no context regarding male, female or otherwise)... I guess you should take the lead and simply use the "asexual" term "soldier". However... I dont believe that using he or she (most soldiers, statistically, are "he"s) should be amount to justification for failure... I would like to see the "question" and the scoring rubric for it.... seems the use of an acceptable pronoun should be secondary to whether the answer was a good answer.

Unfortunately you can be denied a go for anything. However, the reason you didn't receive a go is total horseshit. Stuff like this is why I discouraged my son from going into military, he didn’t listen, but he tells me once a week he should have listened to me.

Welcome to the kinder gentler army. How does that make you feel? Most of the real soldiers have left the military. I told my son not to join. He'll be the first man in my family that will not fight for his country.. I hope things turn around.

There’s nothing wrong with using non gender specific terms. IE “The soldier…”
I draw the line when “they” want non traditional pronouns.
