To go off of my last question many of you helped me with, they gave the top 10 soldiers for the prior service guys the opportunity to get shipped if we went 11C, i volunteered just to get out of here quicker. I've been told i could switch to 11B once i get to my duty station by putting in a 4187 packet. Is it really that easy ? Also do 11C get slots a lot of slots for airborne ? i want to go airborne as well.

None of my chucks would have ever made that choice. As several have said, be a chuck and gain experience first. Make an education decision.

As a former 11C 120mm bang bang, my old PSG back in the day used to rag on the 11M, 11H, and 11B out of fun by saying 11Cs was the real infantry. He asked, once you disable the Bradley, disable the TOW, and pin down the 11Bs in a corner, who will save the day? The mighty mighty 11C............ High Angle Hell, Death and Destruction from above. Hang It !!!!! Fire!!!! Boom! Stay 11C

11C can go to airborne. Airborne isn’t determined by MOS, it’s determined by PPPs, paid parachute positions on the MTOE you’ll go to. If you didn’t want 11C you shouldn’t have volunteered.

SGT (Join to see) if the PPP on The MTOE of an Airborne Unit has it, the MOS can go Airborne.

Depending on your command, you can usually submit a 4187 but I’m sure needs of the army will have something to do with it. Are you near re-enlistment and if so ask for junpmschool then if you can’t get a slot

From the few 11C’s I know they couldn’t really swap over to 11B, but honestly none of them want to, you learn everything the Bravos know and more, and when you finish basic at Benning they “Should” offer Airborne and Ranger options to all the 11 series guys, Pro Tip, always take the Airborne option, because at the end of Airborne then they always offer Ranger Option again but not the other way around.

The answer to both of your questions is yes. You can always reclass with approval from your chain of command. Approval will depend on the strength of your mos in your current unit. If they need 11Cs they most likely will not approve. Also, anyone can go to airborne school.

Don’t change it up man. You’ll learn to love Mortars once you understand what you’ll be doing. You’ll feel proud of what you do, just because it’s such a small world in the Army.
