Can I email my battalion or brigade commander in regard to my PCS award?

I honestly just signed up on this website because I am really needing an answer. I PCSd last month (March 2018), and did not receive my PCS Award nor did not get any recognition that I'm leaving the unit (I digress on that topic). The Form 638 was submitted 5 times prior my PCS date and from what I heard from my squad leader it was already approved. However, upon checking my ERB and PPW today (4/11), nowhere I can find this award. I haven't received my AGCM neither but it's on my ERB/PPW so I don't care to receive the hard copy. So what do I do in this situation? I honestly don't want to contact my previous unit because they're a POS who don't track of paper works or anything unless it's a bad thing.

You might want to contact your old S-1, they will get the ball rolling

SFC James, I did and they told me to ask my company. Yeah they're that rude and unhelpful. At this point, I'm at my wit ends and I'm going to be that soldier who's going to contact higher up.

If your previous unit is that unresponsive about your PCS award, I personally would just drop it, because it's actually killing you, not them...like you said, they don't give shit!

The PCS award is an award not an entitlement, what it takes is for your squad leader or someone in your chain of command to take the initiative to recognize a Solder and properly submit it and then hope that someone in the S-1 knows to forward it on to Bragrade. There are a lot of moving parts on this and all it takes is for someone not to do their job. I wish you luck. I have had three PCS movements with no recognition and received awards while in the unit only to leave with nothing. the most you can do is to contact someone at your old Unit and see if they can follow up on it. Good Luck.

I feel your pain, because that has happened to me several times. I ETS'd from Fort Hood in 2010 without anyone saying anything, much less a good-bye.

Talk with your old training room/orderly room, and ask them about it. If they say it was approved ask them to email you a copy. If you don't get it, I'd email the S1 OIC or NCOIC and ask them for the copy of the PCS award. As for the AGCM go the same route. Just because it's on your ERB doesn't mean you're good. Especially when it comes to competing for the SFC list, you want to have all your awards even down to COA's uploaded into your iPerms.

Although you are not entitled to a PCS award and might not receive one I would try going through your new chain of command and see if your 1SG or commander would be willing to reach out to your previous command team and see what happened. If you were recommended for a PCS award they should at least give you an answer that it wasn't approved or is still being worked.

I would not bother with the AGCM for the pretty little certificate, but get the orders at least for your digital records. Some day you will want them if you are reviewed for 7. Good luck.

The one time I almost got screwed out of a PCS award I wrote to the S1 to ask about it.
6 weeks later I got the AAM in the mail.
Something is better than nothing:)

Contact your old s1 via email cc your old 1sg or csm start at your old 1sg first. Just keep blowing them up if its at brigade give it time. As far as your good conduct medal get with your s1 and have them write you a memorandum. Makr sure it is uploaded into your iperms. Just having it on your erb means nothing without backing evidence. Hope this helps.

If you know in fact that an award was submitted, contact your previous squad leader or platoon sergeant. It's their responsibility to you you track and get you an answer. But by no means contact either your battalion or brigade commander. That would be a show stopper for all concerned. I'm surprised that you, as a sergeant, couldn't figure that one out.
