The Service Remaining Requirement (SRR) for promotion to SSG is 12 months. My ETS date is 18 Jan 18 (just under 12 months). Can I extend?

Am I able to extend to meet the SRR of 12 months. AR 601-280 Chapter 4 Table 4-1 states extension criteria would be that I may extend before promotion regardless of reenlitment eligibility ? I'm being told I cannot extend and can only reenlist to meet SRR if I want to make SSG. I'm eligible and have my P status. What are my options ?

While I am not a Career Counselor, yes you can extend to meet your SRR. If you re-enlist, the Army is offering stupid high amounts for as little as one year. Speak with your BN Career Counselor for the final word.
