I was sent to the promotion board with having little knowledge, I received a No-Go. I went a second time 3 weeks later. I prepared myself better however, I received another No-Go. My leadership is telling me that I have to go again and if I fail I will be barred, and possible separated.

Company commanders initiate a bar to reenlistment.
The Need for justification is basic for a commander to justify a bar to reenlistment.
Ideally of course it’s based on a soldiers behavior or actions documented etc. but honestly it could also be because it’s Thursday and that’s what the commander wanted to do
So yes a commander could bother you to reenlistment based on substandard performance at the promotion board
The bar would likely not be justified by saying failed promotion board it would simply be substandard performance in assigned duties or something like that

I understand, and honestly I don’t think my current commander would go that path. I am in this unit for a year only. I volunteered to become a Door Gunner for an upcoming deployment. Once we return I will go back to my organic unit. They had known me for three months and I appreciate them for sending me to the board but I needed a little more couching.

SGT (Join to see) - Wait a minute! Were you PCS'd to your present unit or are you TDY? If you are only temporarily assigned to this unit and are still carried on the books for your "organic" unit, you need to let the chain of command in that "organic" unit know what's going on. I can guarantee you that they will have something to say about it.

A bar to reenlistment is not a bar to continued service. Usually you dont do back to back promotion boards, theres some development time in between

I had three weeks between the first and the second time. And I think it will be about the same time for the third one.

Keep trying and read the AAR and develop yourself take this time to study, and understand the questions asked. Use your leadership to have them help you prepare.
Don't let it get to the point they want to take action for separation. Take control of your career progression.

Thank you Sargent, I am now taking more time to study for the board. My college class is over so I have more time available.
