Can I go back to IRR if I signed a 6yr contract for re-enlistment and haven't checked in with my new unit yet?

I recently transfered to the IRR, then immediately joined the National Guard with a 6yr re-enlisment contract. I have had a change of heart and just want to finish my IRR time. I have not checked into my new unit yet, and have not recieved my re-enlisment bonus yet. If I can transfer back how would I do that?

You may find you've passed the point of no return. Once you signed that contract you obliged yourself to meet the conditions stated therein. I don't think you have much in the way of options. You can try requesting a release through the receiving unit but, to be frank, I don't fancy your chances. Your contract is with the Army -- not with the individual unit.
