You could go to green platoon and go 160th or be a support guy in 1st group

Do they have a green platoon in JBLM? The only one I know of is in Campbell but they do have 4-160th on JBLM.

As a Branch Manager, I can tell you the the Airborne population is not big. There I recommend that you contact branch and inquire about Airborne slots at Lewis. You will need to provide a Volunteer statement (provided by branch), most recent APFT, and an Airborne physical. If slot is available and once all docs are received they will coordinate with Schools Branch (Airborne Team) and they will get you a school date in route to your duty station, provided you are going to an Airborne assignment. If you get the Airborne Assignment and school date, you should contact your career counselor as you will need to reup for no less than 4 years if I am not mistaken, but you might will be able to get some money for your "troubles".

You can't reenlist for anything but your assignment once you're on assignment. You can ask your branch manager if he's willing to remove you in order to drop an Airborne school request, but you will go to wherever the Army needs after school.

I am about 94.6% sure that the only airborne units at JBLM are SF. Maybe you can get in as a support position pushing out MREs and other supply duties

JBLM has a Special Forces unit.
SF needs supply.
Also you wouldn't be the first person to sign up for Airborne and not go to a unit.

On your re-enlistment contract. Request to go Airborne, now it’s not guarantee that you will be sent to Ft Lewis it depends on the needs of the Army

There has to be an Airborne position in order to re-enlist for Airborne. Get with your Retention NCO.

If you're a green beret in 1st Group or a Ranger in 2nd Bat, you can go to brag with your shiny jump boots, otherwise that's a no-go, airborne.
