My ETS date is 20181018, and the fall semester in my school starts on Sep 24th. I have a current ETS leave balance of 43 days, can I start classes while on leave? Or should I try to get the early separation from the service stated in AR 635-200, 5-16.

While on leave youre still on orders , as long as you have all your ducks in a row , I don't see why not. But perhaps ask someone at ed. center.

Take your terminal leave all at once, ending on your ETS date. While on your terminal leave, the Army should not care what you do (as long as it's not illegal, immoral, or fattening).
Take your classes, and honestly, we're talking less than a month between the start of classes and your ETS date. I seriously doubt that if you get to classes, anything's going to happen that absolutely requires recalling an ETSing Specialist back from transition leave.

Thank you so much for the response. I’m currently on track and starting classes on Sep. 24th, to ETS on Oct. 18th.

Barracks lawyers with more rank than sense? Hell, if a commander can deny leave based on the male service members' intent to attend a baby shower, nothing would surprise me anymore.

I started college on terminal leave in 1977. I had 30 days saved up so I could start college on time.
