I've been wearing the new camouflage pattern since the week it was authorized (and they're great) and there hasn't been any problems until the cold weather started to kick in. The Battalion put out a required uniform of wearing our issued cold-water jacket, gloves, and fleece cap.
Here's where things DO get Hooah: We are not issued Multicam/Scorpion patterned gear unless you deploy and go through RFI. For soldiers like myself, who purchased the new uniform, we still have UCP-patterned gear. I wore the UCP cold-weather over my OCP uniform (and I totally understand how jacked up it looks, but had no option) and a 1SG of another company tells me the 10th MAN DIV SGM put out that doing that was unauthorized. I then spoke to my PSG, he said it's authorized but discouraged. Company 1SG said it's authorized, CO said it's authorized but wants to see the policy that was put out stating it.
I HAVE looked. Maybe my Google-fu is rusty. I am not finding anything answering this question, but I haven't stopped searching. Since I found this such a hard question with blurry answers, I thought it'd be good to discuss and debate on Rallypoint. Thoughts? Anyone have their own post policies with authorizations about this? Has it just been a by-commander thing so far? I don't recall anything about this in AR 670-1; only that you can't mix, say, your UCP trousers with OCP coat, or wear the new shirt with the old uniform. Nothing about cold-weather clothing - or even body armor, etc., for that matter.

The 10th Mountain FB page just shared a link OK'ing the mixing of patterns. So here in the next few days you'll likely be hearing your chain of command say that THEY said it's ok ;o)

The army specifically released a message that said they are aware not everyone has OCP cold weather gear and TA-50 and that Soldiers are authorized to mix and match as required until issued the new gear, or it otherwise becomes available.

Look up alaract 085-2015. This alaract message was issued before updates to the reg in regards to the wear of the OCP ACU.
You are allowed to mix and match OCIE equipment unless it is the OEF-CP patterned equipment, since multicam is trademarked.

So yes you can wear UCP cold weather ECWCS gear with the OCP ACU until the wear out date of 30SEP2019

Check out the table at the bottom. Short version: you can wear UCP gear with your OCP uniform until 1 October, 2019, but it has to be 100% UCP. No mixing and matching.

2 years later... Respectfully, 1SG, I interpret that regulation to be referencing "clothing bag items," not organizational (CIF-issued clothing). Anyway, so said SGM Eva Commons (Uniform Policy Sergeant Major, Army G-1) in 2015. (https://www.army.mil/article/159254/soldiers_can_mix_camo_patterns_for_cold_weather_gear)

I appreciate all the immediate answers, everyone. However, the particular 1SG who name-dropped our DIV SGM on the topic really likes me. Does anyone have anything from SGM Lewis on the matter?

Army > CSM Lewis. If there is an issue you can always have top get further clarification from the G3 SGM.
