I served in the guard while getting my degree with the goal of commissioning into active. Ive gone into the recruiter and asked about getting any schools(airborne, air assault, etc). They said since im prior service they cant offer me any in my contract and that i just have to hope i get one. Is this true or just the recruiter not wanting to put in effort? Just wanting to know before i get screwed like my last enlistment. And if true hkw likely is it for either a 15A or 13A to get schools?

Airborne can be placed in the contract. You’ll need to complete an airborne physical prior to shipping out (only school I can think of when signing the contract to enter in). Air assault will have to be done once you’re at your unit (like other schools).

Airborne can not be reserved by the recruiter for prior service. All reservations have to be pulled on the floor at MEPS by the guidance counselors.

You can always submit a 4187 later on requesting the training if nothing gives! Stay on it!!

They may not offer you anything at meps but you will have the option to volunteer for airborne and rasp if you change your mos and become a MOS-T
