The CIB can be awarded several times. The hardest part must be in a 11b or 18 mos and engage armed combat. As service members get more rank they get into positions not eligible for the award for example in ww2,Korea in infantry units then in RVN era and not carrying the proper mos or working above brigade level.

Slightly different but want to add the story of a hero of mine. George Nestor, USAF Retired MSG, was drafted into the army at the beginning of the Korean War. He served as a medic and was awarded the Combat Medic Badge(CMB), then, still during the Korean War, he volunteered to become an Infantryman( due to the number of Conscientious Objectors the medic MOS was adequately filled.). He was awarded the CIB for his service also. He then left the Army and returned to civilian life. After a couple years he decided to enlist in the Air Force. He subsequently served two

Tours in Viet Nam. He was awarded the Combat Air Crew Award during this time frame.
Combat Medic, Combat Infantry, Combat Air Crew.
I tried to research this to see if any other individual had been awarded this combination of badges. No luck but my research was not exhaustive. Anyone out there have any thoughts?

I know/knew a few that had the Marine Corps/Navy equivalent with 2 stars (equaling three different awardings).
