Can someone earn an EIB if they are in an infantry unit, serving in the role of an infantryman, but their MOS is not 11B?

Been serving in an infantry role for a couple years now, but my unit just has never found a slot for MOSQ that doesn't interrupt university. I'll be reclassing sometime within this year, but we have an EIB course coming up, can I earn an EIB while not 11B and start wearing it once I officially get reclassed to 11B or do I have to earn it while I am 11B?

No you can't. Must units hold an ESB when they do an EIB. You are only able to compete for the ESB. You can still wear it when you're infantry.

SPC (Join to see) It's best to ask your Company Commander or XO rather than take suggestions from RP... Army Regulation changes. Good Luck with your career.
