As a holder of a "Black" Diplomatic Passport for the last five years, I can with 100% confidence tell you that you CAN NOT use your Diplomatic Passport for leisure travel. The unofficial use of a Diplomatic Passport is a misrepresentation of your status to a foreign government. There are privileges associated with the Diplomatic Passport, e.g. No Fee Visa, Expedited Lanes, Non search of person and personal luggage (certain restrictions apply), airport VIP lounge use, etc.
Don't using it. It's not worth having a ticked off Ambassador calling your CG.
Just out of curiosity, why do you have a Diplomatic Passport as a Veteran?

SFC (Join to see), its not connected with veteran status. Thinking in terms of DoS foreign Post assignment and traveling to and from CONUS/OCONUS on leave. A better question would be "Can DoS personnel fly space-A while on personal leave?"

SPC David S. With the rephrase of the question... yeah... I have nothing. Sorry. Have you tried the AMC terminal?

we used to use our official and diplomatic passports to fly into areas with all branches and the freedom birds but we also had orders cut for space a travel...

State Dept prohibits use of Diplomatic or Official passports while performing unofficial stuff like leave, long weekend travel, etc. Space A has no tie to passport status; your position and location does. So if you're a FED overseas with an EML piece of paper, that's Cat-2. Beyond that, AMC has no mission to fly you. However, that doesn't mean they won't. Results vary. That's why if you're going overseas, make sure you have a personal passport as well besides the brown and/or black one. BTW a diplomatic passport is only authorized for very select use by certain Feds and their dependents. When I was all over the place in the mid '90s, the brown and black on orders ditched the airport fees and some other things. A few times I was steered to a separate short line through immigration. But other than that, there generally was someone at the curb to pick you up. No particular mystique.
BTW, the brown and black passports were the ones you'd get the long term multiple entry endorsements on so that speeded things up a great deal.

Diplomatic passport won't allow you entry to country where you're not on their list. It did ensure I received extra special screening every single time I left the States.

CAPT Kevin B.
Contractor personnel transport is is way outside AMC mission. Contractors are required to price and include whatever employee compensation, bennies, etc. in their bid. DoS is typically explicit in what is and is not usable/reimbursabe so it isn't a bidding unknown. Obviously in an evacuation, US Citizen = Seat. If you are a contractor employee, the Govt doesn't get involved in how you're managed, just meet the compensation provisions stipulated in the contract.
