I have a friend going from active to guard, but he wants to reclass into nursing. He has a 103 and needs a 107. He's already been to GT improvement and only has two months left till terminal leave. Can he be waivered into that MOS for his GT score?

EVERYTHING is waiverable regardless of what they call it. I needed a 110GT score to go to OCS and I had a 101. I went to BSEP and raised it to 108. OCS branch said they would not waiver it. I was in a good position at the time in a command that I had a good relationship with a GO. i spoke to him about it and he said find a way and i will help you. I found out that a guy got into OCS with a GT score exception to policy, but it needed a GO signature. i typed up the exception to policy and had it sent to the Army G1 after my boss signed it. Long story short I am not a Captain. BLUF if they want it bad enough don't let anyone tell you no keep pushing! I am so glad I did!

That's a DA level/CMF Branch approving authority. I can only speak of initial Active Duty enlistments. It's not technically a "waiver", its called a "line point exception". There are 10 different aptitude scores derived from the ASVAB. GT is only one of them. Each MOS has "quals" that require a minimum score in one or more of those areas. "Line point exceptions" can be restricted during draw downs to high priority shortage MOS's, or closed altogether. 68C may be a tough one to get a line point exception for, but doesn't hurt to try. POC should be your retention NCO.
