My primary MOS is 14T (recently reclassed) and my secondary MOS is 91B. Would I be able to attend a 91B ALC school date I was scheduled to go to this year prior to my reclass.

The answer is yes you can...
However, the whole point of ALC is to improve you as an NCO in the job you have in the Army, not as a block check for promotion. Especially in a case where you are new to the MOS.
I would think carefully about that one.

Thank you for you response, 1st Sgt. I was looking for a direct answer because I've been getting nothing but the old, "well you see" from my unit. My circumstances are a little unusual.

Wouldn't you want to learn your new job as a leader in aviation, especially that technical of a job? I am sure you have some extenuating circumstance causing you to ask a question like that, all the best.

I know at my Academy if you are an 11b, you are going to that ALC. Same goes for my 11Cs, 19s, and 91A/Ms. I recommend that you contact the military schools Branch at HRC, they are the proponent for the STEP program. You will not get a more official answer

Better check with the training NCO on that one.

Can someone go to an ALC outside of their primary MOS?

You are able to attend ALC in your previous MOS, however that will not help you to get promoted in your current MOS, you will still have to attend ALC in your primary MOS in order meet the requirements to get promoted.

Thanks for you help, SFC. I have heard that I would have to go to ALC again for my primary MOS but what of those individuals that might reclassed as a SSG with ALC in their secondary? Would they, too, have to go through ALC again?

If they are already a SSG you won’t be required to go again because ALC is required in order to make the grade of SSG. However, you will be space available on the OML because it’s no longer required.

SGT Gredicek,
I believe you can, but only for Phase I unless the rules changed. It's been a long time since I went to the school when it was called BNCOC (2003). We had two students in our class that were MI, but they were there just for Phase I. A little different situation that time.
With that said, I might have a talk with your Training NCO or even the NCO Academy if I were you because this sounds like an unusual circumstances, especially you re-classing.

There are a couple of ways to break this down.
First, if you have finished your new MOS then you are not eligible to attend the alc of your prior MOS. The school will remove you from your course slot at some point.
If you had not completed your new MOS, and where to attend ALC in your prior MOS and then promoted, you would lose your course seat at your new MOS.

WhT a waste of time if you really want to reclassify, you won’t make a good impression to your new unit by pulling this BS. You can do it but it will be a joke if you really want a new career

If the Army is willing to let you I would. Frankly if you are a recent reclass your 14T ALC probably isn’t going to teach you anything you didn’t already learn in the basic MOS course.

Seriously doubt it- ALC is suppose to train/help/educate you in your PRIMARY MOS- why would they want to train you in a secondary MOS that you are not slotted/working in- a waste of resources.
