Can someone provide information on the Cyber Test (what's on the test, how to prepare, etc.)?

Can someone provide information on Cyber Test which is a prerequisite to reclass to 17C? I'm looking for information on whats in the test, how to prepare etc ?

Hey SPC Kochhar. I recently took the Cyber Test, scored 70 (passing is 60) without any studying, and am now Enlisted as 17C, so I'm probably decently qualified to answer.
I encountered questions on:
Basic stuff (General hardware, stuff to do with programming)
Networking (Ports, OSI layers, perhaps some general network + level stuff)
Security (Types of man in the middle attacks, specifically.)
A lot I think I got wrong just because it's been so long since I used specific terms, and some of the questions were phrased in ways that could have multiple meanings.
I would focus on those three areas, being A+, Network+, and Security+ levels, in terms of studying. Studying for those three specific exams will likely help you improve your score.

Hey SPC Kochhar, we have a couple of Cyber NCOs coming to give us a brief on prerequisites, "a day in the life" and other things. The brief isn't until next week I believe but I'll see what I can find for you if that's not too late.

WO1 Marcus Summerour, do you have a POC for this MOS (17C) concerning a young man that wants to go Active Duty (AD) Army and enlist for this MOS? He is aware of the basic requirements. Would be nice to talk to someone on AD that could give my son some insight into this MOS. Non prior service (NPS) with no law violations.

Are you referring to the Cyber Questionnaire that is part of the application packet? I've not known of any "test".

SSG Chen- When I go to Cyberschool website>careers>17C under the minimum prerequistes it says "Must score a 60 or above on the Cyber Test. (Request Test)" whereas when I check Milper message for reserves, it does not mention anything about the test. So, I'm guessing that this requirement is only for active duty.

Even the updated MILPER listed on the Cyber School web site doesn't mention it. Appears it is a newer requirement. A friend on the AD side told me that it was something they were looking at rolling out that was a bit more than the cyber questionnaire so it looks like they may have. She's going to see if she can get some more info on it. From a guess, I'd say it'd be much like what they're doing with the cyber questionnaire but plussed up as a survey of skill sets so nothing overly deep but across a spectrum. I'll send out a few other inquiries to see what I can find out.

I'm not really sure, I've been in my current MOS for almost 33 months but have not gotten any push back from my command regarding the reclass.

I don't know anything about reserves, unfortunately, so I can't verify. I would suggest knowing what's on the test regardless, considering rumor has the fail out rate of the AIT at 25%. Preparation is an advantage.
