Can the POTUS recent comments on Bergdahl inadvertently set him free?

Perhaps one could have argued Trump's comments during the election cycle might have impacted his trial but he pleaded guilty and admits he did what he has been accused of doing. Trump was also a candidate at the time, not the President. He can have an opinion as a private citizen.
The sentencing process has guidelines a judge can follow based upon a number of factors. A judge needn't consider anyone's opinion in sentencing.

It was a combination of the statements he made during his campaign and his reaffirmation of his stance he made during a Rose Garden appearance on Oct. 16.

PO1 (Join to see) - Josh, his comments are no more prejudicial than Obama's, Clinton and Rice's comments about Bergdahl serving with "distinction and honor". Those comments are certainly prejudicial and intended to send a message that he did nothing wrong etc. and to go easy on him to military commanders jurors etc. perhaps. Comments from the command authority go both ways. If Trump should have been quiet about the issue so should have the previous administration.

Cpl Jeff N. - I don't disagree with you at all.

On Bergdahl, Maybe Trump Could Try Saying ‘No Comment’
Ardent Trump fans find their man’s shoot-from-the-hip style to be a refreshing break with politics as we know (knew?) it, confirmation of the real-estate mogul’s authenticity as the voice of the everyman. Those who suggest the president might try being more, well, presidential, quickly find themselves the target of Trumpist venom. Yet it is a stubborn fact that when the president of the United States says something, it matters. Assuming he...

PO1 (Join to see) - It is funny how the media only considers Trump's comments as being prejudicial and ignore the excessively effusive praise heaped upon him by the former president and two cabinet level officials. including a visit to the Rose Garden by his parents. Obama knew the background on Bergdahl and was trying to change public perception and influence military officers and possible jury members as well. That is roundly ignored by the press.
Obama did this mostly for his own purpose to make his rotten deal look better but he had to position Bergdahl as worthy and honorable to make his deal look better. All a lie and anyone paying attention knew that.

It shouldn't if the judge is correctly following the orders of the Convening Authority. A simpler example would be getting tagged with a JAGMAN. You do due diligence, stick to the facts, and come to supported conclusions. Yes, the higher ups may push for a predetermined outcome, but that's their improper attempt at tampering. You have to live the rest of your life knowing if you were pure, or not. I once did an Admin that concluded with Command management sponsored sexual harassment (first/second tier management0. It was the realization of the fears of the front office. In the grand scheme of things, the best outcome long term is the right outcome. Politics is fickle. The truth isn't. It just is. Justice on the other hand is subjective. There's a bell curve on opinions on which is the right amount. Whatever is selected, there will be a slice of the bell curve that will be pissed.
