I’m preparing a packet for a friend of mine and he asked if he can still commission while on a temporary profile. He is worried his packet will be turned away because of the profile. If someone could provide some guidance, that’d be appreciated. I don’t have anyone to ask for guidance in my unit because it is such a rare thing for people to do.

Why are you preparing your friend's packet for him to commission? Shouldn't he be doing all this? Preparing it? Asking questions about profiles?

SFC, reason for inquairing is that I have already put one together and sent it up the chain of command. This SM is brand new to it and I’m just helping them get everything squared away. Their training room doesn’t know much about it.

1LT (Join to see) - Helping and doing for him are two different things though. It sounds like you're doing it for him which isn't really helping him. You can guide someone through a process without doing it for them. That's all.

Your friend's temporary profile should end long before the commissioning takes place. In fact, long before the board convenes.

He should be preparing his own packet. Help with questions is ok, but do not do the work that he/she should be doing. Potential officers should not have someone else prepare their packet.
