I'm up for reenlistment in October. I'm definitely reenlisting, but was wondering if I could get something instead of money like a special school slot like Airborne School or Sapper? Appreciate the help. PFC (Join to see) SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL SFC James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" LTC Stephen F. CPL Dave Hoover SGT David A. I got a nice back pack, exercise set, Army Star Logo Mug, Insulated Water Bottle with Army Logo, and a Army Reserve Coyote Brown Shirt as my reenlistment incentive.
Didn't get a bonus because I went Indefinite.. then the next SRP list came out a month later with $20K. Man was I mad

Mine is opposite; I missed $20K bonus because HRC published a new MILPER message 23 days before my reenlistment window open. I was already coordinating with my Career Counselor and everything but NOPE!

Its very hard for reservists to get slotted for these schools unless you are in a unit that has an authorized slot for them. Sapper school is a very hard school to get into, even while serving active, you need to be in a sapper company.
Airborne has an OML for slotting, and unless you are going to a unit in which the P SQI is required or you are attending a school that requires it, you as a reservist, are unlikely to finagle that into your contract.

As a Reservist, it's kind of tough getting stuff other than money when we re-up. Since you're in the 12 series, you could always try and get Sapper. Although, I've never heard of someone getting a Sapper seat written into their contract. I would definitely recommend you talk to your Retention NCO to see what kinds of perks you can get.

Talk to your re-enlistment NCO. Options are usually available especially if you reenlist into a shortage MOS.

You're AGR, right? You don't get school choices in the same way active duty does. Also, for AD whether you get a bonus is completely separate from which reenlistment option you choose.

Negative SFC (Join to see). I'm Reserve, but will still be deployed when I reenlist.

Ask and if the recruiting NCO says yes then write it into the Remarks part of the contract. Then have him sign his signature block beside the statement. Do this before signing for yourself and raising your hand.

Loved those re-enlistment bonuses. 3 years, monthly base pay of 290 WOW 870 bucks.

We used to get Soldiers Airborne, Air Assault, MOS changes and duty assignments. Ranger and Sapper were harder but not impossible. Our guidance to the Re-Up NCO was..... If it aint illegal ,immoral or unethical get the Troops what they wanted and let us know who we needed to see to push waivers. In fact the only thing I ever encountered that was unwavering and absolute was the conditions and eligibility for the Expert Infantry Badge everything else in life is subject to waiver if you work the issue hard enough.

You can reenlist for something other than a bonus. However, you won't get an airborne slot unless you are in or are getting assigned an airborne slot. I highly doubt you'd get to go to Sapper School unless you are an engineer.

I am an Engineer SGM Steve Wettstein. I'm going back to an Engineer unit upon my return from deployment.
