Can you go from Recruiting to Drill Sergeant?

1SG (Join to see) - That is very sold information. I will ask a few seniors in my PMOS and ask them their opinions. I believe that my mindset is different however than what others may be. I know most people want to make rank asap. I don't completely share that mindset. It isn't that I do not care about promotions, but with me making SSG in 6 years, I feel like I have time to slow down and catch up. I could make 7 in 7...but I'm not overly concerned with that. With that being said, if I take an assignment and it slows down my next promotion for a year or two, I can live with that.

I have had the same mindset and wondered if I would just be looked at as, chasing badges...I really hope that is not the case when it comes time for branch to consider my request.
I suppose only time will tell.

If you only have 6 or 7 years in, that changes my opinion to, I would go for it.
You've certainly learned a lot about people, time management, planning, and communication as a Recruiter. DS duty will round you out well. Contacting DS branch directly, as another NCO posted, may not be a bad idea. Best wishes.

My battalion commander in Luxembourg Bob Cox was in charge of enlisted assignments at the Hoffman building. He was quartermaster. He had branch transferred as a major from ada. His first wife divorced him. He was always in the field. He made full bull but not general. Stay with you own guys. My friend Dennis Monzingo was detailed as a recruiter in Ventura California. He was a Bradley mechanic at Fort Carson. He got out after 8 years as a SSG. He now is a retired GS 12

What about from doing drill time to recruiter? Is it also possible to do both starting drill to recruiter?

Of course the army is not meeting their recruiting goals. Plus they are 750 helicopter pilots short
I was the log chief at USAREC support center in Alexandria Virginia. As a cw3. Hand picked.

SSG (Join to see) SFC Amuse the Insta Famous NCO she was a DS and got DA selected for recruiting. She made SFC. However, she is Signal, so different career path.

That is exactly what I figure I will have to do. Complete my time in USAREC, go back to the big Army for a few years, then drop a DS packet. I know most likely, this will be my coa.

Nonetheless, very bold choices. I commend anyone who will take on the challenge of being a drill sergeant. I also defend the badge so anyone who talks crap about the job can say it to my face. SSG Clint Underhill

I've wanted to be a DS since my days in BCT...that has not changed. I honestly don't see myself completing my career without earning the badge and leading tomorrow's newest soldiers.

It was my dream since basic training to do it. So when I finally got to do it, it was the most exhilarating feeling to finally see myself doing something that I had dreamed of. An exhausting and sometimes stressful job, yes. But I do not regret any minute of it. SSG Clint Underhill

I have looked up the qualifications and I do meet all requirements. My biggest concern is being told no by branch because I am currently on recruiting and I and trying to do both assignments back to back.
