I do understand that a 25U is a master of all trades and 25B is more conectrated on IT/Networking ?
I’m currently doing as much research as I can. I want a IT Carrer in the civilian Side . So I would like to know which MOs would help me the most to achieve my goal ?
Thank you in advance!

Once you enter into the 25 CMF - the civilian IT certifications become equally available to all of the MOS, the difference is the individual’s drive to attain them and the actual operational environment to put them into use. As a 25B you will work mostly help desk layer 1 issues, while as a 25U you will likely be focused on lower TI equipment like radios. If you want to get into networking, your best route is 25N. All of these MOS can reclass to 25D once you hit the SGT level, and that’ll streamline your military career to a strictly technical security focus. I’ve worked in multiple roles in my career as a Signal Soldier from 25U,D, B,N,L,Q,T - so please feel free to send me a message if you are looking for more specific insight into the enlisted Signal MOS.

I know the times have changed, But if memory serves me right is now Integrated with AIT. But Under Reserve if the Funding is available and time, 25U do Qualify to take these Certs as well if the Unit Funding, and availability there.

Go 25B it will help you get the initial certificates and the rest you will work on it.

Yes you can. When I was active I recommended that my 25U's get the same certifications as my 25B's. You can't manage what you don't know. 25U's usually end up managing all Signal functions (don't know why).

Yes you can, simply study for the certs Sec+, Net+ etc. depending on mission you may be able to have your company pay for them.

You'll be able to get them as a 25U but you'll have more opportunities as a 25B, N or Q. 25U are usually attached down to the companies and working on the radios while 25Bs are in the S6 and their main job is network.

SPC (Join to see) you can submit for Reclass after one year on station. Units don't have slots for Reclass, you'll have to work with your career counselor

It would depend on what your unit makes available to you. Check with your 6 shop

Get on ATCTS and you can see the MTTs out there and how many slots they have available. I let my guys go to whatever they want if the mission allows. The MTTs are paid for and so are the vouchers. Most units do not understand that.

I'm a 25U as well and my unit did get me certs in IT. 25U and 25B will be merging in the near future. I currently work as a Systems Engineer for General Dynamics and was offered the position with no certs. I eventually got my degree and the certs followed. Just get spun up on Linux, Bash scripting and networking on your own. These are the basics to get your foot in the door. While performing your roles as a 25U, get your hands dirtly in networking with the 25B guys.
