Your P status is for being promoted to the MOS you currently have. Once you have a new MOS.....that P status is gone. There is a caveat. If you make cut off before you are awarded the new MOS, then your promotion sticks.

I would rather worry about learning your new MOS rather then switching and getting promoted right away. As an NCO you need to be technically proficient. How can you lead and train your Soldiers if you don't know your MOS? To answer your question, yes it is possible. We had a few get promoted to E5 the day after they passed their reclass school. They pinned them the day they were leaving the school house.

Can you reclassify if you are promotable? Will your P status carry into a new MOS?

SPC (Join to see) Look at the requirements of the MOS that you want to reclass to. Some MOS's allow you to be a SPC (P), others do not. Your retention NCO should have that info for you

A new milper message came out today that will allow a spc p or ssg p to reclass into specific a specific mos and be promoted once ait is completed. Spc will still need to attend blc, but for ssg ait will count towards alc.

Its a matter of the businesses rules for that reclass.
If the In / Out and eligibility for that MOS reclass say E-3~E4 non P...Then an E-4 P or SGT, SSG, SFC ect are not eligible.

Each MOS is different and the MOS proponent determines the eligibility rules for their MOS. Some MOSs have rank requirements that require or exclude a promotable status.

Impossible. Why would they promote you and let you leave that MOS?

When I reclassified to 31b (back in the day), I was promotable, once I got to my next duty station, our S-1 just resubmitted my packet, and I made cutoff
