If you can do 1 mile, what about 3 miles? How many more can you do? I think it is our duty to stay in shape, just in case we are needed again? What is the minimum to be considered in shape? Five miles without dying or more? Agree

One mile is easy. Two is a little tougher. Most I've done in one sitting(running?) is four miles.

26.2 to be exact...actually I did walk for a bit at mile 18, 22, and 24...lol, seriously. OCT 5 2014. Portland Marathon...but I love running. Thinking about an Ultra.....I'm sick like that. If I were rich, I'd pay people to see how much the human body can handle....

CSM Charles Hayden Passed 7/29/2025 Well they both have 11 in them...0311 trained, I still struggle with Army acronyms and verbiage...I feel more like a Marine in an Army uniform. Sorry, that was probably a cop out...but its the best I can do at this time.

Unfortunately I cannot run anymore. The bike and walk are out of the question.

However, I can swim 3 miles non-stop in 90 minutes (average time). In average I swim 4 to 15 miles per week depending on what I am training for.

If there is a river close to your run track, I guess I can follow along:)

Great question!! Because at 52 years old and 7 years retired, yes, not only can I run that damn mile I can do it under 5:30.....a bit slower that when I was in.... 3 Miles? Yep at less than 20 minutes. I can run all day long. I loved being challenged by my medics half my age on the PT test and still kick their butts....I FIRMLY believe in not only staying in shape but proper nutrition as well. It is what I teach in my clinic....
