I wouldn't mind doing this as well. I picked NG so I could stay with my wife since she has two years left in her PHD, but then after the deadline her boss told her that if I got active duty she would just graduate her early... So now I'm at BOLC and get back in June. I've heard trying to switch is a pain, but hopefully ADA is in high demand for AD and I have a shot.

Yes you can,
Easiest way is to be prepared for a window of the Reseves to Active Duty program to open. Then it’s a 4187, a few recommendations and an APFT with a memo for consideration. Recently had two LTs who did this post BOLC.
Another specific way is to meet with your higher command, State Officer Strength Manager to ID if there are options for AD available. Many times these are Branch and experi nice dependent. While there you may look into AGR program, ADOS tours and other potential options that will bridge you to a potential AD appointment.
Lastly, you can put a packet together and submit it to HQDA G1 officer Accessions for consideration for AD assignment. This is a huge packet first better through your Higher first flag officer Command; then forwarded to HQDA. Most difficult but still possible. This in times of need is a way to balance the force at the 1LT(P) to Jr Major. It’s small but some chance to get selected. They like precious Thides scholars, PHDs and or super interesting skills but you can try this.
Hopefully this helps, and trust that if you really want AD, as a RLO, performance is everything! If you have MQ OERs, take hard positions, max you APFT and get some good supporters you will make it if you stay the course.
Good Luck and I will see you on the next Objective!

I am sure the LTC is correct, however you have to look at the length of your BOLC to be realistic. These things don't happen overnight and really happening during BOLC verses right after in my opinion matters little unless the active corps would require you to attend the full length BOLC (some guard/reserve attend abbreviated courses) after completing the shorter version, you have time. The increase in some 80,000 soldiers is what will help you the most.

Sometimes, as hard as it is to believe, Big Army makes a boo, boo. Happened when I in OBC. For a couple of weeks someone came to class and begged us to enter the AUS. Not many takers. I had already been to RVN and not in a particular hurry to go back.

Possibly. If they need officers in your branch in the Active Army they can probably make that happen.
