Does anyone know if it’s possible to take your military drivers license to the DMV and get a class C drivers license if you do not have one? I’ve heard stories of it being done in my unit, Can anyone confirm if it’s an actual thing? As far as I’m tracking it’s military drivers license, proof of residency, and SS card and ID and possibly a 6 hr drivers course certificate of completion.

You would have to check with the appropriate state you live in. THIRTY SIX states have adopted this program, but depending on the state, you have to do it PRIOR to discharge. Also, Some states may require you to take the tests only the pay the fees. Some states will charge you fees and waive the tests. It also depends on what you're licenses for. I know its rare, but if all you have on your license was tank, combat, FT....maybe not :-)

Though there was a place in Fort Hood to get both licenses.
