I recently got injuried and have runners knee which prevented me from shipping out for BCT. I am reapplying for a waiver once cleared by orthopedic doctor. I was given a knee brace and it helps immensely. Will I be able to get a profile going into BCT allowing me to wear the brace? It’ll help prevent me from injuring it again. It can be worn under clothes and isn’t noticeable. I wouldn’t need it during the physical fitness test if it wasn’t allowed

I would wait and see if your waiver is approved before you start thinking about what you'll need for bct.

Based on the last question by Carter I have a feeling the recruiter is going to tell him "no" and to just tough it out and deal with it.

If they allow it these days, he's going to get ragged on by the DS's. I remember we had a PVT go to sick call and comeback with a walking boot. He comes back into the barracks and the DS looms over him right in his face and says "You make me want to vomit" and walked away. Kid turned into a worm and I could tell he never felt so pathetic in his life. Hilarious.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - Yup. From that point forward you're just viewed as a "malingerer."

Short answer, no... long answer is that if you still need the support of the brace, prior to shipping and then while at BCT; you are most likely not fit for duty. However, if you get cleared and no longer need the brace, have an approved waiver to enter the Army, and later become injured again and the on base doc says you need a brace, one will be provided for you.

Honestly, it makes zero sense to leave for BCT if you are not 100% ready to rock. Even with a waiver for entry, if the problem continues you'd just be discharged and sent home anyway. Just take the time to heal up all the way and then come in. Save yourself the BS down the line.

Talk to your recruiter but my thoughts would be the answer is no. There would be to much liability sending an individual who is injured.
