Hopefully their will not be mob vengeance in Chicago against police officer Jason Van Dyke while he is out on on SSG Audwin Scott.
I also hope that his trail is just and does not turn into a media frenzy.

I grew up in the West Suburbs of Chicago so of course this hits home as my mother and two of my sisters' still live there. Can this Police officer truly justify shooting a suspect that was later revealed only carrying a pocket knife 16 times? What are your thoughts?

Don't these guys carry batons, pepper spray, tasers (non lethals)?? Aren't they trained in the arts of issuing a little hand to hand ass whooping??

MAJ Jim Steven - I think the problem is this, just like in the military we are trained to "shoot to kill" what needs to happen is retraining with all the devices you just mentioned. All situations don't require a shoot to kill method, but to slow the victim down.

If this was a solider shooting an Iraqi or afghan civilian like this they would be locked up right now. This guy should not have gotten bail. He killed this kid almost a year ago. He should've gotten all his stuff in order.
16 times? Nope bail denied. I have short patience with police, they are supposed to be professionals and conduct themselves better than the criminals, just like us soldiers are supposed to be better than the enemy. I hope he gets death by firing squad,
