How many of you have been asked 1 or more dumb questions by un-educated civilians about yourself and or the military service (including your service, etc.) ?

I once was asked by a woman in her 40's if I would please leave the office because she was scared of veterans. When asked why, she replied... "Well don't all veterans go like PTSD on people and start shooting up the office and shit, like totally..." (Yes she was a surfer girl from Cali.)

I smiled and to give her a little bit if her own medicine... I replied, "Well no, not me....so long as you don't piss them, (other veterans in the office) off...". She ran to the manager and quit her job that same day... telling him "either he goes, or I do..." The manager is a veteran himself, and heard the whole conversation and let her go.

What is the dumbest thing a civilian has asked you?

This happened right after I got back from my Afghanistan Deployment...

CIV - So what's it like not being able to talk to your family while your gone?
ME -I was able able to talk to my family like once a week.
CIV - How?
ME- Messenger Pigeon....*Pause while he looks at me befuddled*...Yeah, the Army issues those to us along with hand lotion.

Join nearly 2 million former and current members of the US military, just like you.
