The smell of a good cup of coffee is one of the best way to start the day. I would have to be a poet to describe the wonders and beauty of my favorite drink. Nevertheless, younger generations seem to have a strong preference for energy drinks despite the healthy risk involve in their excessive consumption. Is it a generational difference or a marketing issue?

Coffee for me please. I've tried the occasional energy drink over the years but just really don't like the taste of most of them. The few that I have found that I enjoyed the taste were so ridiculously expensive that I could buy coffee for a week for what one can of the stuff costs.

I don't know if it's generational, marketing, or genetic. My mom always told me I got my love for coffee from my dad. You almost never saw him without a cup of coffee within arm's reach.

I think it is a generational thing, i know for myself as a gamer when im sitting down to game i want something NOW, i dont want to have to wait for something to brew and then have to wait for it to cool off so i can drink it, that process also follows over into my morning i want to sleep in as late as possible sometimes and when i wake up in the morning i can just swipe my card in the vending machine get a monster or beverage of my choice then go on my way and pound that sucker quick before i start my day. Now on the weekend if i get a chance i take my time in the morning and make a very tasty french press or pot of my choice and enjoy drinking just one cup even. At the same time i may read the news or listen to the radio for a while and enjoy not rushing my day.

MOAC; Mother of all coffee. At Green Bean in Iraq, a MOAC consisted of four shots of espresso and then the rest coffee, in a 24 oz cup. Grabbing a MOAC ensured that day was going to be glorious, and that all work would get accomplished.

Energy drinks are chock-full of other vitamins and minerals—including vitamin B, ginseng, and taurine—that are advertised to amp up your energy. "But there's no evidence that those huge doses have any impact on mental functioning or energy," says licensed nutritionist Monica Reinagel. 5-Hour Energy, for example, contains more than 8,000 percent of your RDA of B12—which is really just expensive pee. "It's all window dressing," Reinagel says.

In fact, both coffee and 5-Hour Energy produce the same brain-wave energy perk despite the latter's signature cocktail of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, according to new research presented at the annual meeting of the Association for Psychological Science.

Meanwhile, coffee has a lot more than caffeine going on, says Reinagel. It's actually the No. 1 source of antioxidants in the average American's diet, outpacing both fruits and veggies combined, according to research from the University of Scranton. It's rich in polyphenols, antioxidant compounds that stave off cognitive decline, protect against diabetes, and promote weight loss.
