Combat veterans, do you think Iraq was a mistake, or are you tired of hearing the people who never went say that?

It wasnt for us to decide the wrong or right of it...Support and Defend the Constitution...and Obey the orders of those appointed over us....So politically it may have been wrong, but that wasnt for us to decide...Mission and your Men...period.

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I believe we saw about 500 tons of Sadams' WMD headed out of Syria not long ago thanks to the Sweedes and Brits efforts in containing and processing Syrian chemical weapons. So no I don't think the war was a mistake I just think we took to long to strike.
Even barring the WMD I was getting pretty sick of our troops headed over to Kuwait every year or every other year as a show of force to keep Sadam penned in. Thanks to all who served.

Having been in Storm and then part of the invasion force knowing what we thought we new and all the crimes he did before we went in, I would say we were just. I saw the kill houses he had, and our Battalion dug up mass graves, this was right after we had taken over Baghdad. We were attached to the I st ME/MEG and had to do some of the civil affairs and humanitarian stuff and helped turn power back on and running water, they did not have going back to 1991 They had hospitals that we had to help get power and ruining water to. I will stop my rant, but I know that myself and my fellow Seabees and other combat Engineers that invaded and helped right after will tell you we did the right thing. We had kids running up and thanking us, what does that tell you. I was also back in 2010-2011 on a Joint task Force working with locals on reconstruction efforts and had Iraqi Locals and had a couple of those young kids, had grown and are now adults thank me, so ya I know what I did was right,.

The only mistake was getting involved in a war without a commitment to it, and the pull out that was way too early, causing the political turmoil and lack of stability we see there today. I deployed as an engineer we left their country without any ability to maintain their bridge and overpass assets, disaster waiting to happen.

MAJ (Join to see) - Sir,that is so true,I was with GRD Task Force at the end and that is what I kept telling them when we turned projects over and asked about maintenance programs and military engineers they had none or we did not train them. We built the maybes and did not train how to maintain.
