Connecting with people when home and gaining a family.

Question about finding people when you come back between deployments. I have always had issues connecting to people. It has never mattered to me if I found friends or a girlfriend. It was never important to me until recently. My girlfriend (she found me) passed while I was deployed. So for the past couple months it seems like something is missing. I know it is natural to want to be with someone I miss but I have spent a lot of time thinking about meeting people. How do you meet someone new and get involved with them when you know you are just going to deploy again. It seems that we are getting in to a rotation where we are deployed for half the year. I have always been slow when it comes to accepting people as friends much less getting in to a relationship.
