I have currently been told that my YG for my rate is over manned and may have to convert one of my choices is EOD and I have considered it in the past but was told "NO" because I was an undes airman and now have the option to convert to something I really wanna do and very interested in so I am just looking for any advice at all of things to prepare myself for and what I can do in the mean time as well as anything else someone wants to pass along I've been in barely three years I know it isn't long but always felt like there was more I could do and now with this opportunity I do not want to fall short thanks in advance

Start.... preparing.... NOW. Navy EOD is the elite of the EOD community, with much higher standards and much more specialty schooling.

Aside from making sure you're in GREAT shape, and talking to Navy techs about what to expect from the Navy specific portions of the EOD pipeline... Honestly I don't think there's much you can do. Everything you need to know at EOD school will be taught to you once you get there, there's not much you can prep for beforehand by yourself.
If you go, stay motivated no matter what! Don't be afraid to ask questions, the instructors will help you. It's not an easy school even without all the extra stuff the Navy guys have to go through, I give them lot of respect. School can be stressful, but it's also a lot of fun and the instructors are great. I'm glad I got the opportunity to go.

find an EOD mentor in your area. this website is good but many questions you may have might be better answered in a face to face scenario. get it from the houses mouth. i was a DCman before i switched to navy EOD and would have loved the insight from a mentor who was an EOD tech. make sure your PT scores are superb and your motivation is high. some good advice i could give, is be ready to lead. as a senior sailor you'll be expected to keep ahead of the power curve and it is a steep one. you'll be placed n a unique spot of being a senior sailor with the same rate knowledge as a new e4 fresh from the pipeline, and that can be a hard pill to swallow. if you have any questions, call me at [login to see] . ill try and answer as much as i can. good luck and go threw with your decision, you will not regret it.
