Now living in the valley for a while, I was surprised to learn that the military was the original creator of what we call today the technology center in Silicon Valley. Nice to know given the very anti-military sentiment in this part of California...

Agree. The interesting thing I took away from this was that, through Stanford, the military funded the concept of the startup.
