Has anyone been to COP NAJIL between 2009 and now? I am courious as to what if anything has change since I was there.

I was thier in 2011-12. It was hell. Alot of blood sweat and tears. I'll never forget that place. Or op death star. I was there with 1-13th cav out of fort bliss. The cop was under attack 3 to 4 times a day between the op and the cop. Plus all the daily fire fights on patrol. It was real bad. We shut it down and gave it back to the ana when we left. The next day Taliban hit it in force and gave the ana a choice, leave the cop, or everyone dies..the ana gave in and handed it to them. There was a Rumer of gun ships des th roying it shortly after so that they couldn't control the vally via op death star but I never heard of the Rumer being confirmed.

I was there 2008 & 2009. That is sad that all the blood & sweat we put in to that place, that it fell into the hands of the Taliban. Glad you made it home Jon.

I was the commo guy from the 82nd out at Naji that was attached to 1-13th CAV. Was there for 7 months in 2012 when we shut it down. Broke my heart when it was turned over so quickly. That place was hell daily

Rich, I watched a YouTube video last month and they put washing machines next to the showers. They were many changes but I can't remember all. Just search YouTube for COP Najil.

I believe it was one of the first province to be tourned back over to full Afghan control....maybe back in like 2013
